Passports to Wines 2010

The Arlington Education Foundation hosted its third annual Passport to Wines fund raising event on September 30, 2011. Funds raised from patrons who enjoyed “travelling” to South America to taste wines from Argentina, Chile and Patagonia as well as offerings by local Washington vintners exceeded $9000.00.

The funds raised at the event were directed to projects and programs to support Arlington’s Public Schools. Specifically, these funds finished the Foundation’s commitment to funding a foreign language laboratory at Arlington High School.

The Foundation had terrific support and participation by local vintners and
businesses. Thanks to generous sponsorships by Advanced Orthopaedic Institute, Arlington Pharmacy, Bistro San Martin, Boeing, DBR Gemstone, Dwayne Lane’s Arlington Chevrolet, Magnolia Hall, Paul Kulits, D.M.D., Penway Media, Sierra Property Management, Skagit State Bank and State Farm Insurance, Jim Minifie, all funds raised during the event were applied directly to the language lab.

Patrons experienced a delightful portfolio of wines, including sparkling wines by Treveri Cellars. Samson Estates, Coyote Canyon, Lanz Cellars and Vino Del Sol all generously participated to make another emorable evening. The paired tastes offered by Appetit Catering reflected the South American and local wine offerings deliciously.

In past years, our guests have travelled to Spain and the United States. Plan to join us next year as we explore and learn another region of our planet. To avoid crush (defined as “the process of stamping or crushing grapes for wine”), football season and the [other] crush of the Fall fund raising season, Arlington Education Foundation will be moving the annual wine tasting event to late winter/early spring of 2013. Please visit our website for additional information.

From each of us on the board of Arlington Education Foundation, we thank you for your participation and support of our students, faculty and staff. Together we effect change for generations to come. Thank you for participating with us in filling the gap.
